Working from home is a concept where an employee can do his or her work remotely. It means that employees can do their office work from home. Working from home provides a flexible schedule and flexible hours for employees. On the other hand, the employer's job is much easier. , and also parallelly helps the company to get the work done.

During the pandemic situation many companies motivated use this concept for doing there office works continuously and also most of the employers are offering this option to their employers.

Work from home gives flexible working hours to the employee as well as the job for the employer is done with ease. However, both pros and cons are studies with regard to WFH concept. HRM should address the drawbacks and find the best way out of this.

    The attitudes and policies of organizations toward WFH have an impact on the productivity of their employees. Employee productivity increases when they believe their organization trusts and cares about them and provides them with training, good project management, and adequate resources to complete their tasks on time.It has a positive impact on employee productivity when employees do not have to waste time, money, or energy on transportation between home and office. But this method cant apply to every organization, there has some restrictions.

As most of the countries have been implemented fully lockdowns due to the COVID – 19 outbreak, the only alternative to organizations to perform their duties is WFH which adjusting their work activities to a different location but maintaining their goals and responsibilities. If there is a suitable work space at home, WFH is the safest and most productive way to perform duties in a crucial time and in regular time.

  10. Work from home concept has taken the spotlight with the emerge of global pandemic where companies are forced to adapt WFH style. Mainly the Tech Giants have adapted for greater extend and even in Srilanka most of the Fintech, Insurance companies (Union Assurance) have adapted to the change. Arguably it does loads of good for the employee starting from Mental and Physical Health benefits, work-life balance, Less stress etc. On the other hand it has benefitted the employer too in terms of Operational Cost, Absenteeism etc. Overall it has the pros and cons in term of the employer and employee too.
