In my opinion, it can sometimes have an impact on an employee's performance. Nobody wants to leave their comfort zone and work in a different department. People in a new team frequently take time to open up and express themselves. They enjoy working with people they know well, but they struggle to adjust to new colleagues, causing a slew of problems.
